October 2014 Missouri Days Parade (Little Rascals Daycare)…

The annual Missouri days parade is always a good time to get out and see people that you haven’t seen for awhile, and to also advertise your business with the public. It is also a great time to get the kids out and have some fun with a nice float ride.

Below are some pictures of our float and the Little Rascals Daycare kids having some fun đŸ™‚

Mammal Day

June 3,14 Little Rascals is going out to Crowder State Park, our local state park to attend Mammal Day. The kids have been learning about Mammals for the past few weeks to get ready for this event. Our same tour guide we had on the nature walk will be teaching us about the mammals and skins.

Afterward we will be having a hot dog roast with smores to follow. I have a great turnout with the families here at Little Rascals and hope it wont rain us out. Look for upcoming pictures of our Mammal Day.

Sleep Training

So I decided to sleep train my 5 month old today because his napping in the day is horrible. He may get 1hr.45min throughout the whole day. I spend half my day trying to get him to sleep and I just cannot do that.

So I am doing the sooth method where you let them cry for a few minutes then go give them cuddles but no talking. I rub his back and let the bear sing and make sure he has his Binky. I get him calmed down by patting his bottom and then I go back in another room for a few minutes until he calms down and goes to sleep.

His morning took only about 7 minutes of fussing and crying and this method for us is working great. Eventually it is designed to help him fall asleep on his own and also put himself back to sleep. I am as we speak working on his second nap. This one has taken a little longer but he is calming down nicely. I was so terrified that he wouldn’t do well that I have been dreading doing it. I hope the next few days are this easy. I loved rocking him but he needs to learn to sooth himself.

He is now asleep so it took 16min from start to finish for him to fall asleep and only 9 min was fussing. Not to bad:)
Anyways… I hope this helps someone sleep train there little one and if you need support while your doing it let me know.

Pirate Activity

In the daycare today we worked on pirate activities. The kids wanted to make telescopes and eye patches. I took the left over paper towel rolls and had them paint them. Then we punched holes on both sides toward the top of the roll and took yarn and tide a not so they could carry them around their neck. Next with the eye patch I cut out a circle in the roll and took construction paper and glued that on one side. We then cut holes and tide yarn and measured their head. The kids are now using their imagination to play all around the room. It took about a hour and half to complete the project. That is how we did our pirate activity.

How to entertain school age kids

Here at the daycare I entertain school age kids by picking a few of their favorite activities along with adding new ones. Bingo is a big hit here, obstacle course, board games, coloring activities and play dough. I try and change it up every week so they don’t get board. That is a few ideas on how to entertain school age kids.
