Sleep Training
So I decided to sleep train my 5 month old today because his napping in the day is horrible. He may get 1hr.45min throughout the whole day. I spend half my day trying to get him to sleep and I just cannot do that.
So I am doing the sooth method where you let them cry for a few minutes then go give them cuddles but no talking. I rub his back and let the bear sing and make sure he has his Binky. I get him calmed down by patting his bottom and then I go back in another room for a few minutes until he calms down and goes to sleep.
His morning took only about 7 minutes of fussing and crying and this method for us is working great. Eventually it is designed to help him fall asleep on his own and also put himself back to sleep. I am as we speak working on his second nap. This one has taken a little longer but he is calming down nicely. I was so terrified that he wouldn’t do well that I have been dreading doing it. I hope the next few days are this easy. I loved rocking him but he needs to learn to sooth himself.
He is now asleep so it took 16min from start to finish for him to fall asleep and only 9 min was fussing. Not to bad:)
Anyways… I hope this helps someone sleep train there little one and if you need support while your doing it let me know.
List of baby food options
For those of you who are choosing to make your own baby food, I found a great website that has many different options as your baby gets older. Also gives you step by step at what age to give it. The website is naturalhealthtechniques.com. I printed off a list of what I need right now and am excited to go back to the organic section at the store to see what I can find. Wal-Mart is a great choice because of the variety that it offers. I also found at Wal-Mart that they have ice cube trays with lids so that when you get busy like I do with your little one you don’t have to worry about forgetting about them in the freezer. Stock up on zip locks and your golden.
I hope this helps someone on your list of baby food and gives you many options.
Making own baby food
So this morning I made all of my sons fruit food. I am still sticking with number 1. He is getting very good at it now and knows when he sits in his high chair and his bib goes on what’s going to happen. His favorite so far is peaches and sweet potatoes. He also loves his cereal at night. I still give him this to help him sleep at night.
A few tips on the fruits is make sure that you cook them except the bananas. I just peeled the pears and apples and then cut cored them and boiled for about 20 minutes or until they were soft. I then drained and put them in my food processor. 5 apples made about 6 jars for me. 5 Pears made 4 jars. Also I got everything in the organic section at our local Hy-Vee. That is how I made my sons baby food.
Feeding baby food to 4 month old
Since my little man just turned 4 months we have started him on baby food. My doctor said there was nothing wrong with it. We started feeding cereal at 3 months and he went a few hours longer at night. We have had good luck so far with this. He seems happier and it keep him more on a feeding schedule rather than sporadic. We have to give him prunes with his cereal now to keep his bowel movements on regular.
I have also been making his food and getting it in the organic section. It does take all morning to do 4 foods. I saved glass jars and freeze them so it doesn’t spoil. It has saved us a lot of money though and for me I would rather put the time in and save. Anyways…hope this helps someone on feeding baby food to your 4 month old.
